This Tableware is made of pieces of marble that were discarded because of cracks or colour. Most of the marble produced in quarries (60%) is rejected and this situation is an opportunity to create new and innovating proposals. In this project some factors such as culture of the area and technology available were keys to come up with the concept and the proposal.
Hexagon provides a deeper manner to experience food. It is not only about food taste anymore, some other elements such as texture, smell, presentation, environment are very important. The texture of Hexagon provides a practical and visual effect. Hexagon not only stops elements of the meal to leave the plate but also the texture allows people to feel an extra sensation with their cutlery or fingers. Visually the distribution can offer a wide combination of shapes.

Serving boards are modelled after the shapes of the Carrara Marble Mountains . When they are placed in the wooden stand, they create an interesting set of layers and colours, like the actual quarries in Carrara.
If the boards are laid down, they can be used to serve and present food in different compositions.
One of the benefits of marble is that it absorbs heat or cold, therefore the serving boards are perfect to keep food hot or chilled by preheating or –cooling the boards.
All together these serving boards are a reflection of the Tuscan natural beauty and renowned cuisine in a simple but elegant design.
Flower Vessel / Wine cooler
The project takes advantages from the natural thermic qualities of marble and inspiration from the long-held tradition that Carrara marble has with food. The product can maximise the use of marble wastes as each piece comes straight from the marble coring cylinders discarded by the industrial productions.
The object is multifunctional and allows the user to play with it and its own function. Coring cooler can be used as a tableware sculpture, a glass holder as well as a vase when the wine bottle is not in it. The marble discs can be slid off from the brass bar and reassembled again by people every time in a different way, therefore everyone can create their own unique piece playing with the nuances and the patterns inherent in every block of marble.
The Etruscans created large cylindrical mortars with a spherical pestles, they were some of the earliest manipulators of stone in the region where the marble for my design comes from. This mortar made entirely of white Carrara Marble its a modern reinterpretation of an ancient tool.
After a visit in workshops where marble is worked and transformed, just near the marble quarry in Carrara, Stefania is amazed by the intelligence of sculptor easels, built to support big and heavy marble blocks.
Inspired by these ingenious structures, Stefania designs a series of stools juxtaposing two materials: wood and marble.
In this object, marble becomes itself a part of the stool; it finishes geometrically the ingenious and strong wood manufacturing.
A series of stools with a changing marble sitting. Each stool is a single piece, a geometry of marble, a cut-out of alive stone.

The Veiled is a collection of tables and trays made of marble with a graphical pattern inspired by an ancient statue.
It experiments with the dichotomy between a silk and soft looking surface for a hard material like marble.
The effect of light and dark-coloured marble in stripes is both graphic and illusional.
The pattern catches your eye and invites you to touch.
It combines a modern technique and aesthetic with the traditional way of making inlays.

INTROVERSO DINING TABLE
“Introverso” is a table with double soul that can be modern or classic according to the choice of those who own it . You can decide to keep the original cylindrical shape of the leg (modern) or transform it by using a hammer to “break” the thin marble plates forming it in order to stand out the shape of a turned (classic) leg hidden inside.
Screen composed of three articulated elements obtained from a unique water jet cut marble slab without producing material waste.
Its total weight is reduced by 50% with respect to an ordinary slab with the same dimensions, thanks to a special marble lightening technique
